Actiferm

Actiferm is a carefully selected liquid mix of 80 different microbes that work together to restore, improve and maintain the natural balance in any ecosystem or environment.

  • Prevent pathogens, such as E.coli

  • Reduce odours

  • Ensure nutrient circularity

  • Increase beneficial biology

  • Ferment organic matter

Actiferm is a liquid mix of fungi, yeast, lactic acid bacteria, phototropic bacteria and actinobacteria. These microbes were identified and coined by Prof. Higa in 1982 as Effective Microorganisms (EM®). They are 100% naturally occurring microbes carefully chosen for their individual benefits and ability to work together, synergistically.

The microbes within EM work by way of competitive exclusion. This means that if you populate an environment with these effective, beneficial and friendly microbes, they work together to out compete, and therefore suppress, any potentially harmful pathogens that may be present. As a result, Actiferm can be used in a number of situations on farm, including as a teat dip, footbath solution, slurry / FYM inoculant, Bokashi, general cleaning or even as a topical skin spray to replace and reduce antibiotic usage.
